ANNUAL REPORT DEPARTMENT OF FIELD STATION 2013/2014

The Field Station continued to execute its teaching, researching and income generating functions during the year.  Other important activities included collaborative research and development work carried out in collaboration with other college departments and linkage activities with outsiders.  Efforts were made to improve on farm-record.

Biogas Digester Project at CAVS

The construction, testing and commissioning of the bio-digester at CAVS is supported by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum under the Vision 2030 Power generation Flagship Project. The capacity of the bio-digester is 120 M3 and will supply ready to use gas to the Tana Kitchen at the Upper Kabete Campus. The construction works commenced on 16th March 2015.  It is anticipated that the project construction work will be completed by the end of the 2014/2015 financial year followed by test-running for two months.
